One Beverly Hills
Company: Gensler (Design Architect: Foster & Partners) Project Type: Mixed Use, Residential, Hospitality, Retail Construction Type: New Construction, Renovation Description: One Beverly Hills integrates with the existing Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills to create a unified 17.5-acre site. The Beverly Hilton will be renovated to reflect the design of One Beverly Hills, with a new arrival drive and lobby area, ballroom upgrades, restyled pool and 36 new poolside cabana rooms. A new 10 story hotel will include 42 all-suite guest accommodations, fine dining restaurants and 37 condominiums. 8 acres of botanical gardens at ground level and on top of the podium, irrigated with collected rainwater and recycled greywater, are also available to the public. Additionally, two towers contain luxury residential units with accompanying amenities in the podium. Geothermal and many other sustainable strategies were also used in the design. My Role: Assist in consultant coordination and documentation of sd and dd phases. Lead coordination of landscape roofdeck, roadways and circulation through site, and construction phasing. Challenges: Often adjusting for moving design targets. Maintaining budget across a large site. Minimizing acoustic impact with overlapping luxury uses and busy roadways around and through the site.
